The De-Luxe series allows EFE to re-issue models where production has been larger than demand. To date only lorries & buses have appeared in this range, the early lorry models simply had additional plastic loads added, while buses had registration plates added and slightly revised destinations applied. As the standard models became more detailed the De-luxe range followed and offered more complicated extras, these now include not only new registration marks, but also new fleet numbers, advertisements, and different route numbers and destinations. All deluxe releases since 1996 have been issued with limited edition numbered certificates. The production quantities for these models is normally between 1000 and 2500 pieces. The Qty column shows the total number of each model produced where known. The quantities shown here are the official figures indicated on the supplied certificates. (N/C = No Certificate). If figures appear enclosed in brackets this indicate the model was issued without a certificate. I've briefly listed the changes and new features added to the original base model to produce to the deluxe version. Some of the early deluxe lorries were issued as original models, there being no standard release as such. A small number of early deluxe lorry models under went some of the most dramatic changes, having completely new rear bodies added, these models rather confusingly retained the original series catalogue number. I've listed these models in the section relating to their new body styles rather than by the issue numbers. The early lorry models were originally released in plastic blister packs, however when buses began to appear in the range, a switch was made to a blue 'De Luxe Series' branded standard sized boxes, these continued to be used until 2004, when a new design was introduced as part of a revamp of all the EFE packaging. In recent years the number of de-luxe model releases as all but ceased, EFE now issue all re-worked models in the normal model casting series and use new catalogue numbers and standard packaging. The models are usually easily identified by the larger box labels that are stuck over the originals. Reworked Models List This section lists all the standard issue & commissioned models which are known to be based on a re-worked version of an earlier model. Like the De-luxe series models, the amount of changes made to the original issue vary from simply adding new advertisements labels, to completely changing the vehicle's identity. In some cases even the operator has been altered. The majority of the re-worked bus models issued have had route, destination, fleet number & registrations changed. Many also gain new, or see alternative advertisements applied. More recent releases have these adverts printed on labels rather than printed on the model using tampo printing method. You will probably notice that many commissioned models with a A/B etc suffix are not listed. The reason for this is that some of these were factory produced at the same time as the standard issue release. Likewise I've also not listed any models which are known to have been produced using a blank or partly decorated base model, a good example of this are the many red & green Tilling group Bristol FLF & LS models produced during the 1990's. With increasing production delays in China, EFE has since 2012 issued a ever growing number of re-worked models to cover the shortfall of new products. By 2015 re-worked items accounted for almost two thirds of the models issued during that year. Like standard issue models most of the re-worked items do not have any indication of the quantity produced, however it seems most sell out quite quickly after release suggesting EFE base production quantities on pre-orders received from the model trade. The re-worked models will thus likely be rarer than the original version in the majority of cases. In most cases the re-working process has been carried out by EFE using their own facilities in the UK. Most De-luxe & early re-worked models were just simply overprinted, however later re-worked models often had some, or all the original decals removed with solvent before the new decals are then applied. Vinyl advert labels were also used on most of the later reworked models, to no doubt make the process simpler as EFE increased the output of reworked items. The last reworked model was released in January 2017, following Bachmann Europe's acquistion of the EFE range in October, it was stated that no more reworked models would be produced and vinyl advert labels would no longer be used on future new models. 24203A - Simple re-work with just new side adverts
