New Britbus Model Announced |
Melvyn Grosberg has sent me details of a new Britbus model that he has been involved developing. Melvyn says he has been asked many times for a Leyland Titan PD2 driver trainer model by Southdown enthusiasts, after starting the project some month's ago and with the help of Norman Hinchiffe of John Ayrey Diecasts, it has now reached the stage where Britbus have produced a pre-production sample model. Click the thumbnails above to view larger photographs of the early pre-production sample The model has been given Britbus stock code L005 and will be a low run of round 500 pieces. The production models will carry registration number OCD 768 and fleet number T768. There will also be number of other amendments to the final production model which is due out at the end of August/September. The model is expected to sell out, so if anyone would like to buy one from Melvyn, they can order one by sending a cheque or postal order, NO cash, made payable to Melvyn Grosberg at the address below. The model can also be purchased from Melvyn's website at www.acemodelbuses.co.uk The model is priced £31.49 which includes first class recorded delivery to a UK mainland address. The final model above depicts the currently unnamed Wrightbus vehicle which is in development for use in London. The vehicle which has been heavily backed by the current London Mayor Boris Johnson has been nicknamed the "Borismaster" by the press. The first prototype of the bespoke three door twin staircase bus is currently undergoing various engineering trials in the UK. This bus is due to enter service in the capital with Arriva along with five pre-production examples next year. The Corgi model will depict the first vehicle, the livery and other details will be finalised once those for the real bus have been confirmed. |

OK Travel RTW Variation Found |
Barrie Davis has found two variations of the recently released Corgi OOC OM41707 RTW in OK Travel livery. The first photograph shows what I believe is the correct version of the model which has the front destination display fitted over the red & gold band below the upper deck windows. The second model has the destination display fitted below the said red & gold bands and partly outside of the recess provided for it on the upper deck casting. Whether this is the reason why so many of these models failed the quality control checks isn't confirmed but clearly a fault that resulted in only 240 out of 1000 models being passed for sale to collectors must have been quite substantial. If anyone can provide set of good quality photographs of the final production version of OM41707 I'd be must grateful. Please drop me an email if you can help. |
