2007 North Weald Bus Rally Model
2007 North Weald Bus Rally Model
Picture courtsey of www.worldwidemodelbuses.com
Next Sunday sees the welcome return of the North Weald Bus Rally after an absence of two years, this long established and highly successful annual event has a long association with special EFE commissioned models and this years return will see the release of a special code 2 re-tooled Routemaster (31501A) which depicts RM50 (VLT 50) on route 69 bound for Chingford Station.

The limited edition of 485 models carry adverts for the rally on both sides and will be on sale at the event for £25.00 each. For those unable to attend the event the models can also be ordered direct from Peter Coe at London Bus Retail who has once again arranged the commission of the models from EFE. Further details including an order form can be found on his website http://www.lbrt.me.uk/lbr.

7th Edition of the EFE & Corgi OOC Model Guide
alt=
The North Weald Bus Rally will also see the publication of the latest 7th edition of Anne Letch's comprehensive Model Bus Guide. Anne Letch has contacted me to confirm that the new edition has now been printed and copies are expected to be delivered to the publisher early next week.

Following many requests this years edition has been spiral bound for the first time which means the book will now lay flat when open on any page.
The new edition includes full details of all the models released up to the end of May 2007 and now covers well in excess of 2700 different 1:76th scale model buses produced by EFE, OOC, Britbus, CMNL and ABC.

Copies of the guide will also be available from selected model dealers and can still be ordered direct from the publisher L.B.R.T. for £9.99 including p&p. For further details visit the www.lbrt.me.uk website.

Latest EFE Newsletter
The latest combined 4 & 5th Subscriber's Mailing from EFE reveals that Frank Joyce and the team at Enfield have been busy in recent months working on various new products.

The first shots of the AEC RLH, the revised RT and the new 2RT are all now expected imminently while tooling is now well underway on the new modern single & double deck buses. Frank states "The primary consideration with modern buses is their sales and it is only when a sales pattern begins to emerge that decisions can be made to start tooling, and establishing this can delay the release of the model."

A further 1/24th scale model bus is being developed this will be a single decker which "will have a wide appeal to many collectors, even if they are not over enthusiastic about the size of the model". The identity of the new model will be revealed to subscribers at a later date.

The tooling for the 1/24th MCW Metrobus has now been cleared for the production and the first release of the model will feature a colourful London bus operator further details will be released nearer the time of release.

The 1/24th DMS in Metrobus livery is due to be released soon and is limited to approximately 200 pieces each of which will be authenticated with a numbered certificate embossed with the Company Seal.

Moving back to the 1/76th scale models the next new tooling to appear will be the articulated tanker and for the first release a combination of a Bedford TK pulling a single axle oval tanker will be produced in Texaco oil company livery. To enhance the trucks range a number of new accessory loads are being tooled and a luggage trailer for the RMA Airport coaches is being prepared. The tooling for the Leyland STD bus is now completed and the moulds have been sent to production to prepare for the first release.

Four further models are being produced in the Victoria Coach Station series for the London Transport Museum and these will be issued in batches and packed in a specially printed outer sleeve which identifies the series.
99701 MCW Atlantean - Standerwick Gay Hostess (Released in March)
99702 MCW Atlantean - Scout (Expected June)
99703 Plaxton Panorama - United (Released in March)
97704 Bristol RELL Dual Purpose - Red & White (Expected June)
99705 Bristol RELH Coach - Crosville (Expected September)
99706 Alexander Y type - Eastern Scottish (Expected September)

The EFE Showbus winner RML2306 was decorated with special adverts and blinds in preparation for it's scheduled trip to the Sinsheim Bus Rally unfortunately due to problems with routing and transport legislation in Europe the necessary German clearance documentation did not arrive in time for the bus to attend the rally.

450 model replica's of this Routemaster in the livery as prepared for the rally attendance have been produced and it is now being considered how best to release these models to ensure that all collectors wishing to purchase the model will have the same chance to buy one at the release price.

Just one previously unannounced new bus model is briefly mentioned in the latest newsletter:
27702 AEC STL Double Deck Bus (No roof box) -London Transport

Another 4 carriage Underground Tube Train set is also mentioned this time depicting the East London Metropolitan Line:
80004 1938 Driving Carriage A
80104 1938 Driving Carriage D
80204 1938 Non Driving Motor Car
