Jet Petrol Tanker | |
The first of the new AEC
Mammoth Major Mark III trucks 30101 was released back in October
and took the form of a commissioned tanker model produced for Jet
Petrol to mark it's 50th Anniversary. The latest EFE Newsletter reveals that the model is being used by Jet as a corporate gift, and at present is not available to the public. The good news for collectors is that Jet do propose to make some of these models available to the public in a few months time. EFE intend to give more details via it's Subscribers Newsletter when known. |

A Possible Fourth RT 50 Variation | 5 December |
The London RT produced in
1989 for the RT50 event is already known to exist in three
versions. Two green with either yellow or beige between decks
band and a red version. All these models carry fleet number
RT3254, however Syd Ede appears to have come a cross a fourth
version which he acquired on the internet believing it to be a
standard red version. It appears that this may be some sort of
factory error, as the model is made up of the top deck from the
red RT 50 and the bottom deck from the Star Group RTW with legal
lettering. The Star Group and RT 50 models were both released in
August 1989, so they would have probably been manufactured around
the same time making the existence of this model all the more
likely. Syd has kindly supplied pictures of this unusual model and they can be viewed by using the link below. The pictures of the base don't appear to reveal any clear signs of tampering as such. At present it is not known whether this is unique or just one of a batch of similar models. It might be time to check your own example! |
