London Transport Museum Model News |
A mailing from the London Transport Museum contains some details of a couple of new commissioned items. Firstly to mark the re-opening of the newly refurbished Museum on the 22nd of November a special version of the London STD bus has been produced that will be available over the counter at the shop and to "internet customers" which I presume means via the Museum's on-line shop. All that is known regarding this model is that it will depict a bus on route 3A. The Eastern Scottish Alexander Y type coach 99706 & Arriva London RMC 31703 that were recently sent out to mail order customers will also be available for the first time in the shop at the re-opening event. The Museum has now acquired stock of 33601, the route 13 STD which was the special low priced model at this years EFE Showbus Rally. The model can now be ordered from the Museum Shop's website although the price has now increased to the standard level. There will be a limited number of specially branded 1938 red train sets released to commemorate the closing of the East London Line under Underground management in December. Following extensive refurbishment this line is scheduled to re-open in 2009 but will be transferred to the Overground network. A similar standard release East London Line set (99931) is also scheduled to be released by EFE at an undisclosed future date. The newsletter also reports that the 1:24th RF isn't expected for at least 12 months and that the 1:24th Metroline MCW Metrobus will when released be priced around £200. |

London Transport Museum's Release Plan For Recent Commissioned Models |
Peter Coe from London Bus Retail has informed me that he has been advised by the London Transport Museum that the recently released Arriva Serving London RMC 31703 and Eastern Scottish Alexander Y Coach 99706 which were posted out to the Museum's standing order customers over the past week or so will not go on general sale in the Museum's Covent Garden Shop until the refurbished Museum's official reopening on the 22nd November. Both models can however be ordered from the Museum's On-line Store in advance of this date. |

Code 3 EFE Model for Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust Open Day |
Harry Cameron has sent me details of a special fund raising code 3 model (13915A/1) that was available at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust Open Day on Sunday 14th October. The 100 specially commissioned models are professionally reworked versions of 13915A -- the Classic Bus special based on 13915, the Western S.M.T. FLF Lodekka. The registration has been changed to represent a vehicle from a different delivery batch to either of the previous EFE versions, & it carries registration number AAG 62B & fleet number JB1943. Above the fleet number is Western's year code, B4 (a feature strangely missing on both EFE versions). The rear 'tweendecks advertising panel has details of the open day, but the side adverts are left unchanged from the "Classic Bus" version -- Haig Whisky on the offside, & Western's Parcel Service on the nearside. The destination has been changed to route 20 to Paisley/Johnstone, which coincidentally is part of the same group of services, all numbered 20, which appeared on some of Corgi's recent FS Lodekka, albeit that it had the final destination of Kilbarchan (Wheatlands). |

Confirmed LT Museum Releases |
I've received several emails in the past few days from collectors reporting they have now received the latest commissioned models from the London Transport Museum. It appears most of the models were delivered last Thursday just before the latest UK postal strike began, this will no doubt delay the delivery of some of these models. PLEASE NOTE Neither of these models will go on sale in the Museum's Shop in Covent Garden until the Museum's Official Reopening event on the 22 November. The models can however be ordered from the Museum's on-line store in advance of this date. 99706 Alexander Y Type Coach - Eastern Scottish 31703 Short AEC Routemaster Coach - Arriva London (route 159) |
