News From Showbus

Six previously unannounced & three models mentioned in the last subscriber's newsletter were exhibited at today's Showbus Rally. There were also two new toolings. Please note the details shown below may be subject to change and the photographs show early pre-production samples. New Tooling Update Only a photograph of a pattern of the new flat windscreen Bristol VR series I was exhibited. There was only a poster showing the same bus as last year for the new Alexander Fleetline & Atlantean double deckers while a pair of posters showed wooden patterns of the forthcoming Alexander Y in bus & Bristol RELL coach form. There was no sign of the 1:24th RF this year although a poster was present advertising the model as a model still in development. The large resin mock up of the Olympus was present again but this time with the side open to reveal the interior detailing. No news as to when either of these new models are likely to be released unfortunately.

New Tooling Announcements EFE had two pre-production samples of a further pair of Routemaster vehicles. Firstly there was a pre-production sample of the first RMC Routemaster Coach with the original bonnet & grille as fitted to the prototype when delivered as CRL4. The model carries Green Line livery and the first issue will form part of a new set commissioned by the London Transport Museum. EFE will then release its own version. The second model which was a early sample features the unique single deck Routemaster RM1368 which was used by the Chiswick Works Experimental Department as test vehicle. The bus was converted to single deck following an arson attack.

Showbus Model Revealed

EFE have announced this special model that will be available to those attending this years Showbus Rally at the Duxford Imperial War Museum on the Sunday 26th September. EFE Subscribers can also order the model by mail order directly from EFE if they aren't able to attend the event.

This model and two other commissions will be issued to tie in with the recent 80th Anniversary of Green Line. The other two models are: 35701A AEC Reliance Willowbrook 4 Bay BET Coach - London Transport Green Line RC1 (grey Green Line Express livery) ex works as delivered condition. This has been commissioned by the London Transport Museum and will be available at the next Acton Depot Open Weekend planned for the 16th & 17th October. 31704A AEC RMC Routemaster Coach - London Transport Green Line (RMC1491 on 720A to London Aldgate). This has been commissioned by the Cobham Bus Museum and will be available at an event being held at the Museum on the 31st October to mark the last public open day at the present Redhill Road site prior to the museum relocation to new premises at the Brooklands Museum heritage site.
