RM5 Routemaster Models |
Arriva have recently completed the full restoration of the lowest numbered production Routemaster RM5. The bus has now joined several other Routemasters in the Arriva Heritage Fleet and to mark this event a special exhibition is being held at the London Transport Museum over the weekend of the 9th & 10th May. The exhibition will show vehicles history and the various stages of the painstaking restoration process, during the event RM5 will be on show outside the Museum on the piazza. To coincide with this event two special EFE models have been commissioned for sale in the Museum's Shop. The models are based on a new variation of the Routemaster tooling that has a revised radiator grille without the familiar AEC triangle badge at the top and non opening upper deck front windows, these features were only found on the earliest London Transport Routemasters. The two versions of the RM5 model produced are 36501 with route 8B Old Ford destinations and 36501A with Arriva Heritage Fleet blinds, the A version will only be available in limited quantities at the event and it is believed a quantity of both models have been reserved for sale to the Museum's standing order customers. |
