Model & Hobby Trade Show |
EFE have been attending this year's Model & Hobby Trade Show at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. They exhibited a number of future model toolings and several forthcoming bus releases on their stand. Three new lorry cabs were announced at the show, first off there will be a second version of the existing Atkinson Knight cab which will now be produced with twin rather then single head lamps. Some very early mock ups of two new cabs from the late 1940's early 50's period were also exhibited, the first of these is a Leyland Octopus while the other is an ERF V type. Moving on to the buses, samples of the two new models mentioned in the recent subcriber newsletter were on show along with a second version of a Leyland Titan in Blue Triangle livery, a National Express Bristol RELH Dual purpose bus was also on show which is probably the Cambus model EFE have been planning for some time. Also on display was another Isle of Wight "Island Line" tube train, this latest version will come in the very colourful Cartoon style 'Dinosaur' livery. A collection of photographs showing these models and others from Britbus, Base Toys & Bachmann have be posted by on themodelbus.com site. EFE Subscriber's Newsletter |
The second Subscriber's newsletter of the year arrived today along with the latest release sheet which has a Lincolnshire Fleet Focus on the reverse. Frank Joyce mentions that the withdrawal of the sponsorship for Showbus has prompted a great amount of reaction from subscribers and enthusiasts. Many of the letters & phone calls received about the change have been enthusiastic and appreciative of the fact that EFE will be taking their display to Museum Rally's around the country. By traveling out to alternative venues it will allow EFE to tailor the display to suit whichever part of the country is being visited and it is hoped that this will simulate more people from that locality to visit the museum event. EFE are currently in discussion with a number of museums as to which events it might be possible for them to attend. EFE will be attending two events in the London & south east area during March & April, first off they will once again attend the London Transport Museum's annual "London Transport in Miniature" weekend at the Acton Depot, this takes place this coming weekend (12/13th March). They will also be at the Cobham Bus Museum's annual Spring Gathering on 10th April which this year takes place at a new venue, Dunsfold Park Airfield near Guildford. Both events have commissioned special EFE models which will be available to those attending. (see my news report posted on 7th February for further details about the three models involved) Frank comments on some of the chatter that surrounded the appearance of an STL bus on a recent release sheet, the model 27812 depicts London Transport STL2310 working a Leyton Garage (T) duty on route 38A. EFE are aware that this garage did not have an allocation of STL's but they were loaned buses from other garages to cover problems with their own allocation of buses. This fact was mentioned in the text that accompanied the image of the model on Release sheet 12 2010 and this anomaly is the reason that Frank chose to produce this particular model. Future Releases These are the models currently earmarked for release in late March. 16011 Ribble - Leyland PD2 Lowbridge Bus 17226 East Kent - Long Leyland National Mark I Single Door 29307 Southern National - Leyland Olympian Bus 31804 East London - RMA Routemaster Bus Two new previously unannounced models are listed as follows among the other forthcoming models on the newsletter. 36004 Silver Star - RTL Bus 27902 Big Bus Company - Daimler Fleetline DMS Open Top Bus |
