Oxford 76DCMxxx Series
Duple Commander IV Coach

Duple introduced the original Commander body in 1964, and many updates to the styling occurred during its production run which ended in 1970. The Commander body was usually fitted to a heavyweight chassis, such as the AEC Reliance, Leyland Leopard, Bristol LH & RE. The body was also fitted to the 3 axle Bedford VAL chassis.
A similar style body known as the Viscount was also available during 1967/8 for a lightweight chassis, such as the Ford R192 & Bedford VAM.

The IV version modeled by Oxford Diecast is was one of the later styles introduced in the late 1960s. These were mainly fitted to Leyland Leopard & AEC Reliance chassis and were used widely by both larger & smaller independant operators of that period.
Among larger operators of the vehicles were Southdown, Alder Valley, East Kent, & Maidstone & District, these vehicles carried various liveries during their operating life, including traditional Pre NBC, National white & NBC red/ green schemes.

Duple Commander vehicles were used mainly on express services & touring work and due to their coach doors & internal layout, few if any seem to have been used on local bus services.

Oxford Diecast announced the new tooling for the model in July 2025, the first model is expected to be released in late 2025 or 2026.

An earlier Commander II styled coach was added to the range in 2019 (see 76dc0xx series)
