Sunstar Model Update | |
Despite Sunstar announcing there would be no more releases of their 1/24th scale Routemaster models a couple of years ago, two new models are set to be released later this year. This RM bus version is based on one of the vehicles operated in Vancouver, Canada by Grayline and sees the model finished in the eye catching "Big Pink Sightseeing Tour" livery. The model carries advertising for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and a set of London route blinds for service 18 bound for Baker Street Station. The model is a limited edition of 500 pieces and has the product code H2916, it's expected to be available in the UK later this year. Sunstar are also producing an exclusive RMC model for the Modelzone chain of stores in the UK. The model features RMC1485 (485 CLT) in the red and gold livery of East London and has route displays for the X15 Express service to Oxford Circus. This model is priced £124.99 (inc free UK delivery) & can be pre-ordered from the Modelzone website. It will be a limited edition of 639 pieces. The latest pair of RT models have also been added to the Sunstar site. The models both depict 1948 RT3 vehicles with the three aperture front destination blind layout and no roof boxes. The first H2927 features RT1045 (JXN 73) in green country area livery with beige upper deck window surrounds. It is shown bound for Kingsend while working on Watford route 345. The model will be limited to 900 pieces. The second RT is based on RT852 (JXN 230) this has a partly over painted front destination display to accommodate the restricted route blind for Hounslow depots service 117 to Staines, Ashford & Feltham. This particular bus was exhibited at the 1948 Earls Court Commercial Motor Show before entering service. This model will be limited to 800 pieces. Two further Bedford OB models are also planned, these are both based on 1949 versions of the coach. No production quantities are given for either these. The first comes in the cream and blue livery of Gloucestershire operator Bowles Coaches, LDF 833 was the last OB built in 1952 and the model's Pub Crawl destination suggests this depicts the vehicle in it's preserved state. The second new OB is an old favourite, FWO 615 is one of the small batch of OB coaches operated by British Railways in the 1950's. The Sunstar model is shown at work on a Relief service and carries the familiar maroon & cream livery.

OK Motors RTW Production Quantity Cut
Corgi has released the following Important Notice today: "Corgi will only be releasing 240 pieces of the proposed 1000 of OM41707 RTW – OK Motorbus Services. This is due to a quality assurance issue and the remainder did not pass our strict quality control process. The certificate will still state that the model is 1 of 1000 pieces as these have already been created. As a result of this, OM41707 will now be allocated accordingly" Retailers as a result are expected to be allocated just a quarter of the models they originally ordered from Corgi.
