Another rare Routemaster model 18 February 2006     After the problems obtaining the Final Day RML models last December and then news a few weeks ago that a third rarer RM version was after all produced for Arriva & TFL staff (an example of 15635D sold on eBay for a staggering £331 !!).
You might have thought that was the end of the story, well there's yet another route 159 RM model out there, according to a report posted at www.britishmodelbuses.com another Arriva Routemaster model was produced for a special staff evening back in March 2005. Only 150 such models were made and carry blue on white "Arriva Recognising Peoples Achievements" side adverts.

Fleet No.RM2217

ReleaseMarch 2005

These models came from a batch of 500 commissioned on behalf of Arriva by the LT Museum, after the first 150 were used for the staff evening in March 2005 the remaining 350 were left on the shelf for future consideration.
By chance all the models were produced with fleet number RM2217 so when the decision was taken by Arriva to make this vehicle the 'Last Official Routemaster' on route 159, Arriva requested the remaining models be decorated to represent the bus on it final journey. If your wondering, the adverts used on this model and the two RML's were those expected to be used on the real vehicles, however a last minute change of plan by Transport for London saw these replaced by advertising for the two Routemaster Heritage Routes.

Pictures of both 15635C & 15635D have been posted at www.britishmodelbuses.com (February 2006 news page).

Still with Routemasters the contents of the new " Routemaster Family" series have been revealled, the eight models will all use the new or re-tooled castings due later this year. The models included will be as follows :
         Prototype RM1
         Standard RM
         RM (Route 159)
         RMC
         RML
         RCL
         RMF
         RMA

There's no news on whether EFE intend to produce a luggage trailer to go with the Airport RMA models. I know a lot of collectors have expressed a real desire to see this item produced.
