The Grocery Series Models
The Grocery Series was introduced in 1997, and focuses on trucks used by some of the Britain's leading grocery suppliers and supermarket Chains. This range along with the Brewery Series was introduced around the same time that the main lorry range gained it's own distinctive 'Commercial' packaging. This re-branding was designed to give the lorries a much higher profile within the bus and coach dominated EFE range.
All the models in this range bar two have been based on the Bedford TK, the two exceptions being Atkinson and Ergomatic lorries. All the models had box van bodies or trailers. The original AEC Mammoth Major truck has never featured in the range, although a variety of grocery related models were issued before the introduction of this series.
All the models were issued in special cream and brown 'Grocery Series' boxes.
To identify the models issued in this series I've added the suffix code 'GY' to their catalogue numbers. Please note this unofficial code does not appear on the actual EFE Packaging.
Only 8 models were issued in the series and these all appeared during 1997. Further Grocery related models have been issued since then, but all of these have been issued in the main Commercial Series packaging.
