New Mark Hughes Models Product Catalogue

A new edition of the Mark Hughes Models catalogue is now available which includes current availability of the Leyland/Volvo Olympian / Alexander RL kit variants. These now include all three variants of the long (10.3m) version. Unfortunately, the 3-axle Megadekka, Homalloy bonnet and Supreme IV are all taking longer than expected to prepare. Recently introduced for the Lledo Bristol LD model are an etching for the standard grille, together with a white metal centre pillar for the rear platform window. See page 28 in the new catalogue. Britbus Model Update

I've been informed by Ace Model Buses that production versions of the four forthcoming Britbus Scania Omnidekka models in Stagecoach Chesterfield (ES13A/ES13B) and Wilts & Dorset (ES14/ES15) liveries will be fitted with Tree Protectors as per the real vehicles. These are missing on the pre-production Stagecoach models illustrated to date.

Latest EFE Subscribers' Newsletter

The latest newsletter for members of EFE's Collectors Association arrived today along with the sixth & seventh release sheets of the year. (see links below) Moving on to the newsletter content there's a further new model among the list of forthcoming releases. 33802 Eastern National - Bristol RELH Coach The next subscribers model will feature a Greenline RCL Driver Trainer bus, further details will be announced in a future newsletter. The London Transport Museum has commissioned a Greenline RMC (31709) for next weekend's Acton Depot Open Days. (25th & 26th September), the model depicts Swanley Garage's RMC1482 on route 717 bound for Wrotham. The model will be on sale at the event and will also available from the Museum's online shop after the event. EFE are planning a Warehouse Display & Sale in the near future. This will be a weekend event which will include a display models and model sale. Models will be available at very favourable prices during this event. Further details, and the date of the event will be announced in due course.

Free Bus Garage Kit With Hornby Magazine

The October issue of Hornby Magazine published by Key Publishing includes a free Scalescenes 'OO' scale bus garage Kit. The magazine also contains a step by step assembly guide by John Wiffen. It appears the supplied kit only contains the garage facade, however a free garage extension kit can be downloaded from the Scalescenes.info site. The October issue is out now, it's available from leading newsagents or post free direct from Key Publishing for £4.20.

Code 3 New Routemaster Model At TransportFest Event

London Omnibus Models have commissioned another limited edition code 3 New Routemaster model, this follows the success of the previous model produced back in April. (see news item posted on 16th April. The latest model features LT 538 in the special "London's streets are getting greener" livery. The models have split destinations for route 73, ten are bound for Stoke Newington, while the other ten are heading to Victoria. The models will be available from London Omnibus Models at the London Bus Museum's TransportFest event. This takes place at the Museum on Sunday 18th October. The models which are hand finished are priced £160 each, and as with the previous models there will be a £10 donation to the museum for each model sold at the event. The model is limited to just 20 certificated pieces and a prototype model. All the models this time have the rear doors in the open configuration. London Omnibus Models have advised me that the models will not be sold before the public enter, so as to avoid dealers buying up the stock. Atlas Launch New Model Coach Collection

Atlas Editions are now accepting orders for a new European Coach Collection, the first model is a Whittles Burlingham Seagull coach, this appears identical to a model offered previously during a trial for the similar collection. A number of other UK models are also shown and all appear to be based on Corgi OOC tooling, there's also mention of a 1958 Plaxton Panorama coach which could indicate an Oxford connection as well. The collection description also includes the following quote: "With a mix of brand-new castings for British models and hard-to-find (and highly-sought-after) models from Atlas Editions’ European partners you have a truly unique collection." The models normal price will be £14.99 plus p&p, but the first three models include a discount &/or free gifts. The first three models are as follows: 1. EFE: Out & About

Exclusive First Editions will be attending the Go Ahead Camberwell Garage Open Day on Saturday (5th Sept). There will be a display of forthcoming models, although no confirmation of whether that will include the recently announced Shop Linker Routemaster. They will also have their popular "Scrap Yard" of model seconds at the event. The garage, located in Warner Road, will be open from 11:00 to 17:00 and admission is free. There will be a display of buses and many other attractions. Further details can be found on the TfL site.
