| Things have been rather quiet recently in regards to OOC related news, however a report in the London Evening Standard has brought to light the first of the models planned to tie in with the London Olympics in 2012. Corgi are to release a limited edition model of the Alexander Enviro400 type double deck bus that appeared at the closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics & Paralympics, this striking vehicle had a top deck that opened up to reveal stages and at the Olympics Ceremony these were used by Leona Lewis & David Beckham. The model which is reported to be priced around £30 is due to be released before Christmas and will depict the vehicle in the all red livery it carried for the Olympics ceremony. It not known at this stage whether the model will have any of the unique working features found on the real thing or whether a further example will be produced depicting the revised livery carried for the closing ceremony of the Paralympics. The Corgi Collector's Club have announced a series of special members models to mark the clubs 25th Anniversary, among models is an OOC Bristol Lodekka bus in Brighton & Hove livery (OM40803A), this model will be a limited edition of just 250 certificated pieces, these will be specially hand crafted by Code3models of Swansea and will be supplied in special display boxes. The Collectors Club have also announced their 2009 members model which will be a Crossley DD42 double deck bus in Leeds Corporation colours, it is stated that this model will have a unique casting modification. Apart from the West Midlands Metrobus detailed below no further OOC model releases have been announced for the period up to the 26th September. |
