Corgi has commissioned MetCalfe to produce a series of card building kits suitable for use with the OOC model range. Metcalfe has it's own range of building kits that are designed for use with "OO" scale model railway layouts, the kits produced for Corgi are sold under the Original Omnibus Company name.
The first kit was released in 1995 and comprised of a bus garage, with optional work shop and office building. The garage design allowed for two or more kits to be combined to allow the production of a larger structure.
A bus station with waiting room and cafe followed in 1997, to complement the new modern coach models a model of part of London's Victoria Coach Station was produced in 1999, again the kits could be combined to produce a even more impressive structure.
To supplement the growing range of Blackpool Trams & bus a model of Blackpool's Marton Road depot was added to the range in 2000 along with a Southdown Depot & Bus Station. Following the introduction of the Midland Red C5 & D9 models replica of Bus & Coach Station was added to the range in 2001.
Sadly there appears to have only been one production run of each kit, which means it quite hard to find most of these kits now, whether Corgi or Metcalfe will re-release any of these kits is at present unclear. |
