Toy Fair News
The 2008 London Toy Fair is currently taking at the Excel Centre in London, the trade only event is the toy & model manufacturers annual chance to show all those involved in the trade their latest products and plans.

Over the last few days various snippets of information have tickled out via a number of web forums and sites.

So on to the actual EFE news, firstly in line with the new policy mentioned in the latest subscriber's newsletter there are no new model announcements to report, however an early large scale resin mock up of a luggage trailer for the RMA Routemaster and a block pattern for a dual door East Lancs Olympus double deck bus were present, the Olympus will be produced in both single & dual door versions although only a short wheelbase version was shown.

The dual door DMS appears to have been re-worked and an example was present which now has two instead of the four leaf doors, this change will allow future B20 versions to be modeled more accurately.

Various items of street furniture were also on show including LT bus stops & shelters, several post boxes and a section of an underground escalator, these items will form part of a new range that appears to be aimed at diorama and railway modellers.

A new 1938 stock tube train release is planned and will feature carriages wearing the livery that is currently applied to former LT stock used on the Isle of Wrights line.

Apparently little was on show from the other manufacturers, Corgi had some examples of there first half 2008 OOC models on display along with examples of the forthcoming Citylink Irizar PB coach and two early pre-production version of the new Crossley double deck bus which was shown with two different upper deck window styles. More details & pictures on the OOC Zone News Page
The was no evidence of any new tooling from Britbus or CMNL although the John Ayreys stand did have a Britbus dual door Leyland Atlantean in Ensignbus livery on display.

Sunstar have announced several new 1/24th releases for 2008 with three new RTs and two further Bedford OB coaches on display at the show, details & official pictures of these models have been published on www.britishmodelbuses.com site.

3 February Update
A further version of Leyland Olympian is also planned and has new interior mouldings featuring high backed coach seating. This mock up based on the Arriva Yorkshire model 29612 was used to demonstrate the new variation.

The Southdown AEC Mark V Tanker was on show and this will carry a green and white livery together with NBC Southdown fleet names. This version of the 4 axle tanker differs from the earlier Milk Marketing Board release by having a elliptical instead of oval tank.

Further pictures from the event can be found at www.worldwidemodelbuses.com who I must thank for supplying all the above pictures.
